Review: DYU King 750 electric bike - a powerful and upgraded off-road and urban adventure companion
Introducing the DYU King 750, an electric mountain bike that offers the perfect combination for off-road and urban adventures. With a price tag of $2,199 USD, this fat tire e-bike is well-equipped with upgrades that make it stand out from its competitors. The 750 hub motor is capable of taking this versatile e-bike up to a top speed of 28 mph, and the 20 amp hour battery provides a maximum range of 80 miles. Additionally, the King 750 comes with a 1-year warranty and 14-day free trial on all of their products.
The King 750 is powered by a rear hub 750 nominal watt motor that has a peak output of 900 watts and 75 Newton meters of torque. With its impressive pick-up-and-go, this e-bike can reach a top speed of 28 mph using the half-grip twist throttle or the speed sensing pedal assist. The locking, removable 20 amp hour battery completely disappears into the downtube, providing a max pedal assist range of about 80 miles and a max throttle-only range of nearly 50 miles. Despite the King 750's aluminum frame, it weighs in at just under 100 pounds, making it heavy, but the center of gravity remains low due to the battery position, making it ideal for off-road adventures.
The King 750 comes with a front spring suspension and seat post suspension, but it’s not a full suspension ride. The 26 inch by 4 inch fat tires provide extra suspension, but a true full suspension version would be a great addition in the future. The electric mountain bike is also outfitted with front and rear hydraulic disc brakes that offer plenty of stopping power, which is critical for a high-speed and heavy e-bike. The Shimano 7-speed derailleur and Shimano SIS Index thumb shifter in the back provide excellent drivetrain capabilities.
The King 750 has an integrated headlight wired directly into the bike's battery that adds visibility and helps oncoming traffic spot the rider more easily. The handlebars are narrow, great for maneuvering through tight spaces, but it does sacrifice some control. The cockpit has a beautiful color display that has all the necessary information, and the independent button pad and half-grip twist throttle and shifter are on the left and right sides, respectively.
Overall, the DYU King 750 is a great ride with a powerful motor, big battery, and upgrades in all the right places. The hydraulic disc brakes and front suspension and seat post suspension setup make longer rides more enjoyable, which is especially appreciated by commuters. With a starting price of $2,199, it’s an okay deal, but at the sale price of $1,699, it’s a very good deal.
